Here we are with a couple more days left of our trip, and the main purpose of it, family time. The first visit starts with a trip back into the city to see Ava and Hamed. WOW they live in an amazing area of DC, and I won’t lie, I am a little jealous! After some time of checking out their place and catching up with everyone, we went for a stroll around their neighborhood before heading to the baby shower.

The shower was being held about 30 minutes north of their place at this beautiful establishment at The Gables Clubhouse. This place was a nice set up with a bar area, plenty of tables, bathrooms, and a upstairs loft area that Aurelia found herself playing Connect 4. The guest started rolling in and the party was under way. It was great to see so many happy people, all celebrating the coming of Ava and Hamed’s first born. Aurelia had a blast going up and down the stairs to the loft and dancing for everyone. She even got to meet a friend that she tried to share her milk with, she is so cute! Eventually it was time for us to hit the road and go back to Denise’s house so we said our goodbyes, loaded up and away we went. The remainder of the night was spent relaxing and catching up with Denise.

Day four, the last full day of our trip begins with another trip to.. yep, you guessed it, Wawa! Afterwards we went back to the house and started gathering some of our things to get loaded later in the evening. We hung out with Denise and took a walk down to the bay. A little later in the afternoon the family started showing up, and the real fun began. Mmm, the smell of all the delicious food fills the house, and my tummy starts to rumble (if you don’t know by now, I like to eat!). We said hello to everyone, and I got to introduce my ladies to the fam. I love these people and I hate that our gatherings are too far spread apart. Who knows, maybe we can do this again next year. It was great to catch up with everyone, and see some I haven’t seen in probably 8 years or so. These are moments that I will cherish and I look forward to continuing to build these memories. It was an amazing day but unfortunately it came to an end.

The Thompson 2023 Washington DC trip comes to its end, but we had a fantastic time. Andrea finally got to see what all the hype was about Wawa, we got to see the nation’s capital together, celebrate the exciting soon to be addition to Ava and Hamed’s life, and have a mini family reunion with the Thompson/Leonard clans. I hope that we can pull this off again, and not wait another decade before we do. Ava and Hamed, I am so excited for you two and I hope that your baby girl adds as much joy and happiness to your lives that Aurelia has ours. Fam, I love you all and really enjoyed seeing and catching up with you. Let’s do this again soon, seriously, let’s not wait till someone passes away, or too many years go in between. Denise, I love you cuz! Thank you for hospitality and kindness, it was a major part of making this trip possible! Until next time, captain out!
