Ah, the smell of food cooking is in the air! I have a few hobbies that I really enjoy and cooking is definitely one of them. A year or so ago I was going through some Rubbermaid containers and came across a cookbook that I had put together back in 1988. Inside that cookbook is another classic for me, french bread pizza!

Typically I would buy one of the frozen brands and call it a day. However that was about to change. I start with a fresh loaf of french bread, and sliced it down the middle. I wanted to add some extra flavors to my pizza, so I melted some butter and added garlic salt and Italian seasoning to it, then spread it over the bread (basically making garlic bread).

Now it’s time for the ingredients. I cut up baby bella mushrooms and green peppers to go along with the pepperoni. I added around 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce to the bread and topped that with a thin layer of a four cheese (mozzarella, provolone, parmesan and romano) blend.

I placed the mushrooms on the bread next, approximately 5 to 7 on each piece. Then I put the slices of green peppers in between the mushrooms and topped it off with 7 pepperoni each. Another layer of cheese and these beauties are ready for the oven.

The pizzas were put onto a baking sheet and into the oven, which was set at 375°. After about 6 minutes, I pulled the sheet out of the oven and added a final layer of cheese, come on now, you have to have enough cheese! Back into the oven they went for about 9 minutes.

A quick peak and I could see that they were ready to come out. I placed them on the cutting board and cut each one into 4 pieces. Onto a plate with some homemade ranch and wala, dinner is served!

Obviously pizza can be made in so many different ways with endless possibilities of toppings. Hmm, maybe next time I’ll go with pepperoni, pineapple and jalapeno.. stay tuned
