Little Stony Falls

First things first, happy birthday to my amazing wife. After a few weeks of unfavorable hiking weather we finally have a stretch of clear days. The morning was a bit chilly so we waited for midmorning to start our adventure. Our journey began with a tradition of ours, Dunkin Donuts!! After grabbing fuel for our bodies we headed down the road to Little Stony Falls located in Dungannon VA. We parked at the trail head which is along Forest Service Road 701.

We left the parking area, headed down the trail and ended up on the bridge above the first waterfall. We went down the stairs to the base of the falls. The distance from parking to the falls is approximately 1000 feet and besides the stairs is relatively easy.

This area never disappoints and I highly recommend visiting. Further down the trail you will find a second and third set of falls. Altogether you’ll be looking at less than 3 miles total. Make sure to bring your camera as there is plenty to enjoy.
